Hey SoftRemedy - you are lucky. One of the best repairmen, and an excellent tuba player besides, is just down the road from you: Mid-South Music in Williston. His avatar is "bloke" on TubeNet. Drop in, say Hi, and tell him I sent you. He knows my avatar. He has a proprietary line of mouthpieces that are definitely worth trying, that are made by Houser, also in Tennessee.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Kate, and I'm a Bb Tuba player, but I've recently entered into Eb territory, so would LOVE to know ANYTHING about how to ease myself into playing this alien creature!

Thanks very much!

Kate

ps- I live in the UK and if there are any other residents of Blighty then it would be great to chat to you!

Hi Kate

I'm a BBb player in Australia who has tried to play EEb in the past. I always made an EEb sound like a piece of garden hose with a funnel on the end. If you're a treble clef reader remember that low G on the EEb is the same note as low C on the BBb and you blow them pretty much the same.

EEb is the national instrument in the UK and there are quite a few from there on this forum.

Welcome and enjoy.

Regards

Gerard

Are any real people actually here? Seems to be suffering from spam overload right now.

Default Tubanator

Hello, I am Tuba Joe, as everyone at school calls me. I take tuba playing seriously, but i have TONS of fun with it all. I have been playing for about 1.5 years now. I started the end of my 8th grade year, cuz we DESPERATELY needed tubas, and now I'm hooked, lol.

Even though I haven't been playing for very long, I have caught up with the only other tuba, and I'm almost as good as him now. I can play multiple notes at once, or "multiphonics" and i am learning to double tongue.

Thats pretty much it, i guess, any questions, ask away, lol

Default Welcome

Hey, it's good to have you here, hope you enjoy all the fun we tubists have. Bass bones are quite acceptable too not to mention U-phones. We have a wealth of knowledge so sit back and enjoy.

Hooray for you and your family Frank. I am encouraged with the story of your family emsamble. Are you still playing together?
