The Memphis Hang is a nice collection of tunes that (other than a couple of tuba overdubs in the studio) could be a live-off-the-floor recording from a smoky club somewhere on Beale Street (nevermind laws about smoking in bars these days....). Jim Shearer and Charlie Wood definitely bring the mood with them on this recording.

miraphonelogoMiraphone has rolled out a handful of new products for 2009.  They have also re-introduced some familiar tubas that we have not seen in several years.  The 185, 190 and 291 CC tubas and the 1281 “Petruschka” F tuba.

Tubonium 7 was held April 3-4 on the campus of Gustavus-Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.  Featured artists at the conference were David Zerkel and Demondrae Thurman.
